Episode 34: Our $0.25

Bit of a disappointment today, we missed an interview with one of the board members of the Raspberry Pi foundation- a UK charity that is dedicated to promoting the study of computer science at the high school level. David Braben, the video game designer of Roller Coaster Tycoon fame, recently developed a P.C. that was about as big as a U.S. quarter, and only costs $25.00 — the Raspberry Pi foundation intends to promote these devices both for purchase by hobbyests, but also as a teaching tool in schools.

Episode 19: Facing the Chalkboard

Today, we interview an instructor at Minot State University — Paul Loree — to get his take and to try to close the disconnect between students and teachers. We discuss everything from his expectations of his students (why undergrads are surprised by this is a mystery to me) to his greatest fear in the classroom. I’m certain that Paul’s students will love to hear their teacher on the air– but for those of you not so lucky, his perspective is near universal (considering Will and I both taught and agree with him).
